How Silver Bullet Bullion from the Northwest Territorial Mint is Made

An oldie but a goodie, this video from the Northwest Territorial Mint shows how their .45 ACP silver bullet is made.

Silver Bullet Bullion 1 Ounce Silver

The process starts as 1,000 oz silver bars from refiners such as Johnson Matthey and silver from previous coin and bullet manufacturing operations are put into a 2300 degree Fahrenheit furnace and melted with the help of electromagnetic induction. This silver is formed into billets which are then compressed into silver rods close to the width of the final product. These rods are shaped and cut in a lathe, and the resulting bullets are then polished and stamped.

The process is fascinating and surprisingly labor intensive. The end product is beautiful. They can be found on Northwest Territorial Mint’s .45 ACP one troy ounce Silver Bullet Bullion page.
